Featuring Blue’s world renowned B6 capsule, the Kiwi delivers the detail of its sonic signature all at once with lots of top end (without being too in your face!), along with lots of mids and bottom end, without being too forward. Designed to set the standard for solid state microphones, the Kiwi yields lush vocals, stunning acoustic guitar and gorgeous piano sounds from nine different polar patterns (Omni, Cardioid, Figure of eight and everything in between). This is the Blue microphone.
An excellent condenser microphone for any sound source
Its lush yet mostly transparent sound has made it a hit for vocals, acoustic guitar, and clear electric guitar cabinets, whereas its open sound and extended frequency response makes a pair of Kiwis a natural choice for piano or drum overheads.
Multipattern design lets you record in any kind of environment
Unlike many multipattern condenser mics, which feature three or maybe five polar patterns, the Blue Kiwi offers a whopping nine total pattern options, including several in-between settings. The immediate appeal of being able to tighten up your cardioid pattern enough to totally isolate a single instrument in a loud environment is an obvious enough way in which this particular feature can come in handy, but one trick we've found that you may not have considered is the ability to widen the cardioid shape to deliberately capture some, but not all, of the room ambience when you're tracking a single instrument.
